SFI SYSTEM Starter Signal Circuit

DESCRIPTION

  1. w/o Smart Entry and Start System

While the engine is being cranked, current flows from terminal ST1 of the ignition or starter switch assembly to the park/neutral position switch assembly and also flows to terminal STA of the ECM (STA Signal).

  2. w/ Smart Entry and Start System

While the engine is being cranked, current flows from terminal STAR of the power management control ECU to the park/neutral position switch assembly and also flows to terminal STA of the ECM (STA signal).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (STARTER SIGNAL)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / All Data / Starter Signal.

    5. Read the value displayed on the GTS when the ignition switch is turned to ON and the engine is started.

      OK
      Condition GTS Display
Ignition switch ON OFF (starter signal OFF)
Engine started ON (starter signal ON)
