DTC Code DTC Name
P1360 "A" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit Open, Low, High Bank1
P1361 "A" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit Open, Low, High Bank2

DESCRIPTION

Refer to DTC P0010 Click here.

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P1360

While engine is running, malfunction in rotation signal (VTS1) of camshaft timing control motor is detected for 3 seconds

(1 trip detection logic)

  • Camshaft timing control motor (bank 1)

  • Wire harness and connector

  • Camshaft timing control motor power source

P1361

While engine is running, malfunction in rotation signal (VTS2) of camshaft timing control motor is detected for 3 seconds

(1 trip detection logic)

  • Camshaft timing control motor (bank 2)

  • Wire harness and connector

  • Camshaft timing control motor power source

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when a rotation signal malfunction is detected in the intake side camshaft timing control motor. While the engine is running, if a rotation signal (VTS) malfunction is detected, a DTC is immediately output (1 trip detection logic). If the engine is idled for 30 seconds, a DTC is detected.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. INSPECT VVT RELAY (VVT LH, VVT RH)

    1. A01GMJI

Remove the VVT LH relay or VVT RH relay from the engine room No. 2 relay block.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
3 - 5 When no battery voltage applied to terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 5 When battery voltage applied to terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

    NG
    OK
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE)

    1. A01GIMXE05

Disconnect the E9 or E19 camshaft timing control motor.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E9-1 (+B) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      E19-1 (+B) - Body ground

    NG
    OK
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    1. A01GIMXE06

      Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the E9 or E19 camshaft timing control motor.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E9-2 (PGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E19-2 (PGND) - Body ground

    NG
    OK
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR - ECM)

    1. A01GLR2E33

Disconnect the E4 or E2 ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the E10 or E18 camshaft timing control motor connector.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E10-3 (VTS1) - E4-30 (EMR1) Always Below 1 Ω
      E18-3 (VTS2) - E2-29 (EMR2)
      Standard resistance (Check for short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E10-3 (VTS1) or E4-30 (EMR1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E18-3 (VTS2) or E2-29 (EMR2) - Body ground

    NG
    OK
  5. REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR (BANK 1 OR BANK 2)

    1. Replace the camshaft timing control motor Click here.

    NEXT
  6. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the tester ON.

    4. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    5. Start the engine and allow the engine idle for 10 seconds or more.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / DTC.

    7. Read DTCs.
