NAVIGATION SYSTEM Illumination Circuit

DESCRIPTION

Power is supplied to the multi-media module receiver assembly, accessory meter assembly and steering pad switch assembly illumination when the light control switch is in the tail or head position.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • The vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) which includes components such as airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the precaution for Supplemental Restraint System Click here.

  • Inspect the fuse for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

  • The illumination circuit uses the CAN communication system. First, confirm that there is no malfunction in the CAN communication system. Refer to the How to Proceed with Troubleshooting procedure Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK ILLUMINATION


    1. Check if the illumination for the multi-media module receiver assembly, accessory meter assembly, steering pad switch assembly or others (hazard switch etc.) comes on when the light control switch is turned to the head or tail position.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      Illumination comes on for all components except steering pad switch assembly. A
      Illumination comes on for all components except accessory meter assembly. B
      Illumination comes on for all components except multi-media module receiver assembly. C
      No illumination comes on (multi-media module receiver assembly, accessory meter assembly, steering pad switch, hazard switch, heater control switch, etc.). D

  2. CHECK STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Replace the steering pad switch assembly with a new or normally functioning one Click here.

    2. Check if the switch illumination turns on.

      OK
      The switch illumination turns on when the light control switch is in the tail or head position.

  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the spiral cable sub-assembly Click here.

    2. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly Click here.

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Click here

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - NO. 1 METER ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY AND AUXILIARY BATTERY)


    1. Disconnect the L126 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the L124 No. 1 meter ECU sub-assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L126-14 (ILL-) - L124-16 (ILL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L126-14 (ILL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L126-7 (+B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      L163-13 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L163-2 (ILL) - Body ground Light control switch in the tail or head position 11 to 14 V

    1. Disconnect the L164 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the L124 No. 1 meter ECU sub-assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L164-13 (ILL-) - L124-16 (ILL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L164-13 (ILL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      L164-14 (ILL+) - Body ground Light control switch in the tail or head position 11 to 14 V
