METER / GAUGE SYSTEM DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

  1. DATA LIST

    Tech Tips

Using the intelligent tester to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.

    Note

In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus:

Select: Body, Powertrain or Chassis / (desired system) / Data List.

    5. According to the display on intelligent tester, read the "Data List".

  2. ACTIVE TEST

    Tech Tips

Using the intelligent tester to perform the Active Tests allows relays, VSVs and actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests.

    Tech Tips

Perform the test with the vehicle stopped and engine idling.

    ECB*: Electronically Controlled Brake System

    *1:

    • It is normal that the door will be locked automatically when performing the speedometer Active Test.

    • The displayed value has the same units (km/h, MPH) as the main scale of the vehicle's speedometer.

    • The needle position should be within the acceptable tolerance.

*2: If this Active Test is being performed and the power switch is turned off and then on (IG), the A/T and ODO/TRIP display area's background may turn white. If this occurs, end this Active Test and turn the power switch off.
