THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:B2485

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when one of the following occurs: 1) security horn is malfunctioning; 2) front controller is malfunctioning; or 3) the wire harness between the front controller and security horn is open or shorted.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

   PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (SECURITY HORN)

   
   

   1. Operate the intelligent tester according to the steps on the display and select "Active Test".

   INSPECT SECURITY HORN ASSEMBLY

   
   
   1. 

      for LHD:

      
      

      1. Remove the security horn (see pageClick here).

      2. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the horn.

         OK
         Measurement Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1 Battery negative (-) → Horn bracket Horn sounds

   2. 

      for RHD:

      
      

      1. Remove the security horn (see pageClick here).

      2. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the horn.

         OK
         Measurement Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) → Terminal 1 Battery negative (-) → Horn bracket Horn sounds

   CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT CONTROLLER - SECURITY HORN)

   
   
   1. 

      Disconnect the A52 front controller connector.

   2. Disconnect the A29 horn connector.

   3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A52-4 (SH-) - A29-1 Always Below 1 Ω A52-4 (SH-) or A29-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
