DESCRIPTION

The rear airbag sensor LH or RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.

If the center airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.

DTC B1630/23 or B1635/24 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor LH or RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note:
  • After turning the power switch OFF, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work (Click here).

  • When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal while performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).

PROCEDURE


  1. Click here

    CHECK FOR DTC


    1. Turn the power switch OFF.

    2. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see pageClick here).

    3. Turn the power switch OFF.

    4. Turn the power switch ON (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    5. Check for DTCs (see pageClick here).

      Tip:

      Codes other than DTC B1630/23 and B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not released to this check.


  2. Click here

    CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH


    1. Turn the power switch OFF.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the auxiliary battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Interchange the rear airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.

    4. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the auxiliary battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the power switch ON (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see pageClick here).

    7. Turn the power switch OFF.

    8. Turn the power switch ON (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs (see pageClick here).

      Tip:

      Codes other than DTC B1630/23 and B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not released to this check.

    10. Turn the power switch OFF.

    11. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the auxiliary battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    12. Return the rear airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.


  3. Click here

    CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH


    1. Turn the power switch OFF.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the auxiliary battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

    4. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the auxiliary battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the power switch ON (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see pageClick here).

    7. Turn the power switch OFF.

    8. Turn the power switch ON (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs (see pageClick here).

      Tip:

    10. Turn the power switch OFF.

    11. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the auxiliary battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    12. Return the rear airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
