AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:B14B9

DTC Code DTC Name
B14B9 Open in Ion Generator Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The ion generator is controlled by the air conditioning amplifier and operates in accordance with the blower with fan motor. The air conditioning amplifier sends a drive signal to the ion generator. When the ion generator receives the drive signal and starts to operate, it outputs an operation condition signal to the air conditioning amplifier.

Note

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ION GENERATOR - BODY GROUND)

    1. A01H0VLE01

Disconnect the M3 ion generator connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M3-5 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG
    OK
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ION GENERATOR - BATTERY)

    1. A01H0VLE02

Disconnect the M3 ion generator connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
M3-2 (IG) - Body ground Power switch OFF Below 1 V
M3-2 (IG) - Body ground Power switch ON (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG
    OK
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ION GENERATOR - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER)

    A01GX3SE02

    1. Disconnect the M3 ion generator connector.

    2. Disconnect the L76 air conditioning amplifier connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L76-22 (NAIN) - M3-1 (IG+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L76-8 (NANO) - M3-4 (PCL) Always Below 1 Ω
L76-22 (NAIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
L76-8 (NANO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
L76-22 (NAIN) - L76-8 (NANO) Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG
    OK
  4. CHECK ION GENERATOR

    1. Replace the ion generator with a new or normally functioning one Click here.

      Tech Tips

Since the ion generator cannot be inspected while it is removed from the vehicle, replace the ion generator with a new or a known good one and check that the condition returns to normal.

    2. Check for the DTC.
