ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C13A3/31, C13AB/33

DTC Code DTC Name
C13A3/31 Open or Short in Lock Switch Circuit
C13AB/33 Lock Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When the electric parking brake switch is pushed to the lock side, a lock request signal is output to the parking brake ECU.

DTC Code Detection Condition Trouble Area
C13A3/31

All of following conditions are met:

  1. Electric parking brake ECU is ON (power switch is ON (IG), or 15 seconds after power switch is OFF and electric parking brake switch lock control is operating)

  2. Terminal LCK1's voltage is less than 2.3 V or more than 4.2 V; or terminal LCK2's voltage is less than 1.4 V* or more than 9 V*

  3. Problem occurs for approx. 1 second

  • Electric parking brake switch

  • Harness or connector

  • Electric parking brake ECU

C13AB/33

Both of following conditions are met:

  1. Electric parking brake ECU is ON (power switch is ON (IG), or 15 seconds after power switch is OFF and electric parking brake switch lock control is operating)

  2. ON/OFF judgment of lock switch 1 and lock switch 2 does not match for approx. 1 second

  • Electric parking brake switch

  • Harness or connector

  • Electric parking brake ECU

Tech Tips

*: When auxiliary battery voltage is 11 V

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

  • If the electric parking brake ECU or parking brake with bracket actuator assembly is replaced, perform the "RESET MEMORY" and "ACQUIRE TENSION SENSOR ZERO POINT" procedures Click here.

  • Even after the power switch is turned OFF, the electric parking brake ECU may store a DTC as a result of removing a connector or fuse, as the ECU is still operating. Therefore, during inspection or replacement, turn the power switch OFF and wait for 20 seconds before removing the following: 1) connectors of the electric parking brake ECU, and 2) fuses of the electric parking brake system circuit.

  • The linked double contacts inside the electric parking brake switch may become unlinked (one is off, one is on) if the switch is halfway pushed/pulled. If this condition continues for 1 second or more, this DTC is output.

PROCEDURE

  1. INSPECT ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH

    1. Remove the electric parking brake switch Click here.

    2. A01GZOPE02

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      7 (LOK1) - 8 (GND) OFF 97.09 to 107.31 kΩ
Lock (Push) 2.09 to 2.31 kΩ
      9 (LOK2) - 8 (GND) OFF 5.51 to 6.09 kΩ
Lock (Push) 1.045 to 1.115 kΩ

    NG
    OK
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SWITCH - ECU AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the L39 switch connector.

    2. Disconnect the S48 ECU connector.

    3. A01GW4BE01

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L39-7 (LOK1) - S48-12 (LCK1) Always Below 5 Ω
S48-12 (LCK1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L39-9 (LOK2) - S48-15 (LCK2) Always Below 5 Ω
S48-15 (LCK2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L39-8 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 5 Ω

    NG
    OK
  3. CLEAR DTC

    1. Turn the power switch OFF.

    2. Securely connect the parking brake ECU connectors and install the electric parking brake switch.

    3. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    4. Turn the power switch ON (IG) and the tester ON.

    5. Clear the DTC Click here.
