HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION


    1. Remove engine assembly Click here.

  2. REMOVE FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the heater wire connector and detach the 2 clips.

      Remove the 4 nuts and front frame assembly.

  3. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE

      Remove the engine oil level dipstick.

    2. Remove the bolt and engine oil level dipstick guide.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the engine oil level dipstick guide.

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

      Remove the 3 bolts and heat insulator.

  5. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR


    1. A01GZUW

      Remove the 3 bolts and heat insulator.

  6. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR

      Remove the 2 nuts, 2 spacers and 2 front engine mounting insulators.

  7. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH


    1. A01GWWY

      Remove the 5 bolts and front No. 1 engine mounting bracket RH.

  8. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH


    1. A01GYCZ

      Remove the 5 bolts and front No. 1 engine mounting bracket LH.

  9. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH


    1. A01GZ2P

      Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

    2. A01H236

      Remove the 8 nuts and exhaust manifold RH.

    3. Remove the gasket.

  10. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01GWJZ

      Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

    2. A01H1ES

      Remove the 8 nuts and exhaust manifold LH.

    3. Remove the gasket.

  11. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH


    1. A01GX59

      Remove the 2 bolts and front No. 2 engine mounting bracket LH.

  12. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH


    1. A01H155

      Remove the 2 bolts and front No. 2 engine mounting bracket RH.

  13. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 12 bolts, 4 universal joint washers and front propeller shaft assembly.

      Note

      Do not bend the front propeller shaft at an excessive angle.

  14. REMOVE INVERTER MOTOR CABLE CLAMP BRACKET


    1. for LHD:


      1. A01GZHQE01

        Remove the 2 inverter motor cable clamp brackets.

      2. Disengage the claw and separate the generator cable.

    2. for RHD:


      1. A01H199E01

        Remove the 2 inverter motor cable clamp brackets.

  15. REMOVE NO. 3 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01H1NAE01

      Remove the 2 clips and No. 3 cover sub-assembly.

  16. REMOVE TRANSMISSION BREATHER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01GX7ZE01

      Disconnect the clamp.

    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the transmission breather hose sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the O-ring.

  17. DISCONNECT CONNECTOR


    1. for LHD:


      1. A01GXIR

        Disconnect the 11 connectors as shown in the illustration.

    2. for RHD:


      1. A01GZGD

        Disconnect the 11 connectors as shown in the illustration.

  18. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS


    1. for LHD:


      1. A01GZKR

        Remove the 2 bolts and 2 ground cables.

      2. Remove the 6 bolts and wire harness. Separate the wire harness clamps from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly.

    2. for RHD:


      1. A01GWM3

        Remove the 2 bolts and 2 ground cables.

      2. Remove the 8 bolts and wire harness. Separate the wire harness clamps from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly.

  19. REMOVE TRANSMISSION MOTOR CABLE CLAMP BRACKET


    1. A01H1LS

      Remove the bolt and transmission motor cable clamp bracket.

  20. REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE


    1. Remove the 3 bolts and 2 clips and disconnect the oil cooler tube.

  21. REMOVE GENERATOR CABLE

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves before removing the generator cable.

    Note

    Cover the holes where the cable was connected with tape or equivalent (non-residue type) to prevent foreign objects or water from entering.

      Remove the 2 bolts and connector cover.

    2. A01GWNF

      Using a screwdriver, remove the 3 terminal caps.

    3. A01GXN4

      Using a 5 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 3 bolts.

    4. Remove the 2 bolts.

    5. A01H2APE01

      Using a screwdriver, disconnect the 3 terminal cables and remove the generator cable from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    6. A01GYX6

      Remove the 3 O-rings from the 3 terminal cables.

  22. REMOVE MOTOR CABLE

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves before removing the motor cable.

    Note

    Cover the holes where the cable was connected with tape or equivalent (non-residue type) to prevent foreign objects or water from entering.

      Remove the 2 bolts and connector cover.

    2. A01GX8E

      Using a screwdriver, remove the 3 terminal caps.

    3. A01H0YM

      Using a 5 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 3 bolts.

    4. Remove the 2 bolts.

    5. A01GX1NE01

      Using a screwdriver, disconnect the 3 terminal cables and remove the motor cable from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    6. A01GYX6

      Remove the 3 O-rings from the 3 terminal cables.

  23. REMOVE GENERATOR CABLE PROTECTOR


    1. for LHD:


      1. Remove the 3 generator cable protectors from the generator cable.

        Note

        Before removing the clamp, put matchmarks on the cables.

    2. for RHD:


      1. Remove the 2 generator cable protectors from the generator cable.

        Before removing the clamp, put matchmarks on the cables.

  24. REMOVE MOTOR CABLE PROTECTOR


    1. for LHD:


      1. Remove the 3 motor cable protectors from the motor cable.

        Before removing the clamp, put matchmarks on the cables.

    2. for RHD:


      1. Remove the 3 motor cable protectors from the motor cable.

  25. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER


    1. A01GXJ5

      Remove the 5 nuts, No. 3 mounting insulator and mounting member.

  26. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR


    1. A01GZ12

      Remove the 4 bolts and 2 mounting insulators.

  27. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR

      Remove the 2 bolts and mounting insulator.

  28. REMOVE NO. 1 MOTOR COOLING PIPE (for LHD)

      Remove the 2 bolts and clip and remove the No. 1 motor cooling pipe.

  29. REMOVE NO. 1 INVERTER COOLING PIPE (for RHD)


    1. A01GYJS

      Remove the 2 bolts and clip and remove the No. 1 inverter cooling pipe.

  30. REMOVE NO. 1 HV WATER PUMP OUTLET PIPE (for LHD)

      Remove the 2 bolts and clip and remove the No. 1 hv water pump outlet pipe.

  31. REMOVE NO. 2 MOTOR COOLING PIPE (for RHD)

      Remove the 2 bolts and clip and remove the No. 2 motor cooling pipe.

  32. REMOVE TRANSMISSION BREATHER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01H19NE01

      Disconnect the clamp and clip.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and transmission breather hose.

    3. Remove the breather hose.

      Note

      Keep the removed hose away from any foreign objects or water.

  33. REMOVE STARTER HOLE INSULATOR


    1. A01GWGF

      Remove the 2 bolts and starter hole insulator.

  34. REMOVE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY


    1. A01GZIU

      Remove the 10 bolts and hybrid vehicle transmission assembly.

      Note

      Do not use excessive force to pry out the transmission assembly when separating it from the engine to prevent the knock pins from being damaged.

  35. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP


    1. Remove the 9 clamps from the wire.

      Before removing the clamps, put matchmarks on the wire.
