ENTRY AND START SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:B2282, B2283

DTC Code DTC Name
B2282 Vehicle Speed Signal Malfunction
B2283 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The main body ECU and the combination meter are connected with a cable and the CAN communication line. DTC B2282 is output when signals, transmitted through the cable and the communication line, do not match.

DTC Code Detection Condition Trouble Area
B2282

Following conditions are met:

  • Signals between main body ECU and combination meter are inconsistent

  • Malfunction is detected in circuit between vehicle speed sensor and combination meter

  • Main body ECU

  • No. 1 meter ECU sub-assembly

  • Harness or connector

The skid control ECU converts these signals into 4-pulse signals and sends them to the combination meter. After these signals are converted into a more precise rectangular waveform by the waveform shaping circuit inside the combination meter, they are then transmitted to the main body ECU. The main body ECU determines the vehicle speed based on the frequencies of these pulse signals.

DTC Code Detection Condition Trouble Area
B2283

When both conditions below are met:

  • Vehicle speed decreases significantly

  • Vehicle speed does not correspond with engine speed

  • Main body ECU

  • No. 1 meter ECU sub-assembly

  • Speed sensor

  • Skid control ECU

  • Harness or connector

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - NO. 1 METER ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY)

    A01GZYAE03

    1. Disconnect the L11 main body ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the L124 No. 1 meter ECU sub-assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L11-9 (SPD) - L124-10 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω

  3. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU

    1. Temporarily replace the main body ECU with a new or normally functioning one.

    2. Check whether DTC B2282 and B2283 recur.

      OK
      No DTC is output.
