DTC SUMMARY
| DTC No. | Monitoring Item | Malfunction Detection Condition | Trouble Area | Detection Timing | Detection Logic |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P2610 | Soak timer (built into ECM) | ECM internal malfunction | ECM | Engine running | 2 trip |
DESCRIPTION
The soak timer operates after the power switch is turned off. When a certain amount of time has elapsed after turning the power switch off, the soak timer activates the ECM to perform malfunction checks, which can only be performed after the engine is stopped. The soak timer is built into the ECM.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
If the soak timer activates the ECM even though only a short amount of time has elapsed since the power switch was turned off, or if the soak timer does not activate the ECM even though a considerable amount of time has elapsed since the power switch was turned off, the ECM determines that the soak timer is malfunctioning, illuminates the MIL and stores a DTC the next time the power switch is turned on (IG). While the engine is running, the ECM monitors the synchronization of the soak timer and the CPU clock. If these two are not synchronized, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction, illuminates the MIL and sets the DTC (2 trip detection logic).
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Tech Tips
DTC P2610 is set if an internal ECM problem is detected. Diagnostic procedures are not required. ECM replacement is necessary.
Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was moving or stationary, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.
PROCEDURE

CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the power switch on (IG).
Turn the intelligent tester on.
Clear DTCs Click here.
Start the engine and wait for 10 minutes or more.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC / Pending.
If no pending DTC is displayed, the repair has been successfully completed.
