DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P1366

Malfunction in diagnostic signal (VTM) of camshaft timing control motor is detected for 3 seconds

(1 trip detection logic)

  • Camshaft timing control motor (for Bank 1)

  • Wire harness and connector

P1367

Malfunction in diagnostic signal (VTM) of camshaft timing control motor is detected for 3 seconds

(1 trip detection logic)

  • Camshaft timing control motor (for Bank 2)

  • Wire harness and connector

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when a diagnostic signal malfunction is detected in the intake side camshaft timing control motor. The camshaft timing control motor is equipped with a self diagnostic function, which is used to output the condition of the camshaft timing control motor as a diagnosis signal (VTM) to the ECM. If the ECM receives a diagnosis signal that is not one of the set signals, a DTC is output immediately (1 trip detection logic).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

  • Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

  • When viewed from the rear of the engine assembly, Bank 1 is on the left side and Bank 2 is on the right side.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR - ECM)

    1. A01H150E51

Disconnect the E10 or E18 camshaft timing control motor connector.

    2. Disconnect the E4 or E2 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E10-1 (VTM1) - E4-9 (EMD1) Always Below 1 Ω
      E18-1 (VTM2) - E2-31 (EMD2)
      Standard resistance (Check for short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E10-1 (VTM1) or E4-9 (EMD1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E18-1 (VTM2) or E2-31 (EMD2) - Body ground

    NG
    OK
  2. REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR (for Bank 1 or Bank 2)

    1. Replace the camshaft timing control motor Click here.

    NEXT
  3. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED

    1. Put the engine in inspection mode Click here.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    3. Idle the engine for 10 seconds.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    5. Read the DTCs.
