DESCRIPTION

DTC P0630 is set when the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is not stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM) or the input VIN is not accurate. Input the VIN with the GTS.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN


  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  3. Clear DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation).

  4. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

  5. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  6. Wait 5 seconds or more.

  7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

  8. Read the DTCs [B].

    Tech Tips


    • If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.

    • If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.

  9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.

  10. Input the DTC: P0630.

  11. Check the DTC judgment result.

    • DTC judgment completed

    • System normal

    ABNORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed

    • System abnormal

    INCOMPLETE
    • DTC judgment not completed

    • Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions

    N/A
    • Unable to perform DTC judgment

    • Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit

    Tech Tips


    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.

    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ CURRENT DTC


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

    3. Enter the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    4. Read the DTCs.

      Result
      Display (DTC Output) Proceed to
      P0630 A
      P0630 and other DTCs B

      If any DTCs other than P0630 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

      Note

      If P0630 is set, the VIN must be input to the ECM using the GTS. However, all DTCs are cleared automatically by the tester when inputting the VIN.

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

    3. Wait 5 second or more.

    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs again.

      Result
      DTC is not output (P0630).
