BLACK OUT TAPE (for Rear Door) REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

    The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

  • When removing the window frame moulding, black out tape and outside stripe, heat the vehicle body, window frame moulding, black out tape and outside stripe using a heat light.

Black Out Tape 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
Outside Stripe 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

Note

Do not heat the vehicle body, window frame moulding, black out tape or outside stripe excessively.


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE NO. 2 DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL LH

      Using moulding remover A, detach the 3 claws and remove the rear door inside handle bezel as shown in the illustration.

  4. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP COVER LH

      Using moulding remover A, detach the 8 claws and remove the assist grip cover.

  5. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01DMRN

      Remove the 3 screws.

    2. Using a clip remover, detach the 9 clips.

    3. A01DQQP

      Pull out the rear door trim board sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

    4. Raise the rear door trim board sub-assembly to detach the 4 claws and remove the rear door trim board sub-assembly together with the rear door inner glass weatherstrip.

    5. A01DORR

      Disconnect the rear door lock remote control cable assembly and rear door inside locking cable assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Disconnect each connector.

    7. A01DR21

      Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the clamp.

  6. REMOVE REAR DOOR INNER GLASS WEATHERSTRIP LH


    1. A01DPM5

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws and remove the rear door inner glass weatherstrip from the rear door trim board sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER LH

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Detach the 3 clamps, move the wire harness out of the way and remove the service hole cover.

      Tech Tips

      Remove any remaining butyl tape from the door.

  8. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS RUN LH

      Remove the rear door glass run.

  9. REMOVE REAR DOOR WINDOW DIVISION BAR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      *1 Temporary Bolt

      Loosen the temporary bolt.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and screw.

    3. Remove the rear door window division bar sub-assembly.

    4. Remove the temporary bolt from the rear door window division bar sub-assembly.

  10. REMOVE REAR DOOR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS LH

      Remove the rear door quarter window glass and rear door quarter window weatherstrip as a unit as shown in the illustration.

  11. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal and rear power window regulator motor connector.

    2. Connect the power window regulator switch assembly and move the rear door glass sub-assembly so that the door glass bolts can be seen.

    3. Disconnect the power window regulator switch assembly and rear power window regulator motor connectors.

    4. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Note

    5. A01DMEQ

      Remove the rear door glass sub-assembly from the rear door window regulator sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      After the bolts are removed, do not allow the door glass to fall.

    6. A01DSGQE01

      Remove the rear door glass sub-assembly as indicated by the arrows in the order shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the door glass.

  12. REMOVE REAR DOOR BELT MOULDING LH

    *1 Protective Tape

    1. Detach the 7 claws and remove the rear door belt moulding.

  13. REMOVE REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP LH

    1. Detach the clip and remove the upper part of the rear door weatherstrip so that the moulding can be removed.

  14. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRONT WINDOW FRAME MOULDING LH

      Remove the door window frame moulding clip.

    2. A01DSNRE01

      Put protective tape around the rear door front window frame moulding.

    3. Using a moulding remover, detach the clip and remove the double-sided tape to remove the rear door front window frame moulding.

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 BLACK OUT TAPE LH

    1. Pull back an edge of the No. 2 black out tape and pull it parallel to the vehicle body to remove it.

  16. REMOVE REAR DOOR LOWER OUTSIDE STRIPE LH

    1. Pull back an edge of the rear door lower outside stripe and pull it parallel to the vehicle body to remove it.

  17. REMOVE BLACK OUT TAPE LH

    1. Pull back an edge of the black out tape and pull it parallel to the vehicle body to remove it.

  18. REMOVE REAR DOOR OUTSIDE STRIPE LH

    1. Pull back an edge of the rear door outside stripe and pull it parallel to the vehicle body to remove it.
