INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

  • A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart Click here.


  1. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. for LHD:


      1. Attach the 2 guides to install the instrument panel safety pad.

      2. Install the 2 brackets with the 4 bolts and 2 nuts.

      3. Connect the connectors and attach the clamps and claws.

      4. Install the 2 passenger airbag bolts <G>.

        Torque:
        20 N*m  { 204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }
      5. Install the 6 bolts <E> and nut <F>.

      6. Install the front floor carpet.

    2. for RHD:


      1. Attach the 2 guides to install the instrument panel safety pad.

      2. Install the 2 brackets with the 4 bolts and 2 nuts.

      3. Connect the connectors and attach the clamps and claws.

      4. Install the 2 passenger airbag bolts <G>.

        Torque:
        20 N*m  { 204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }
      5. Install the 6 bolts <E> and nut <F>.

      6. Install the front floor carpet.

  2. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the connector.

    2. Install the front No. 2 speaker assembly with the 2 screws.

      Note


      • Do not touch the cone of the speaker.

      • When installing the speaker to the instrument panel, be careful that the wires do not get caught between parts.

  3. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the 2 clips, claw and 2 guides to install the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel.

  4. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel.

  5. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the 4 clips to install the No. 1 instrument panel register.

  6. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the No. 1 instrument panel register.

  7. INSTALL FRONT NO. 4 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the connector.

    2. Install the front No. 4 speaker assembly with the 2 screws.

      Note


      • Do not touch the cone of the speaker.

      • When installing the speaker to the instrument panel, be careful that the wires do not get caught between parts.

  8. INSTALL UPPER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL


    1. Attach the 8 clips and 2 guides to install the upper instrument cluster finish panel.

  9. INSTALL LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o CRAWL)


    1. Attach the 3 clips and guide to install the lower center instrument cluster finish panel.

    2. Install the 2 bolts <E>.

  10. INSTALL CENTER CLUSTER MODULE SWITCH (w/ CRAWL)


    1. Connect the connector.

    2. Attach the 3 clamps to install the center cluster module switch.

    3. Install the 2 bolts to the instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly.

  11. INSTALL RADIO TUNER OPENING COVER (w/o Audio)


    1. Install the radio tuner opening cover with the 4 bolts.

  12. INSTALL RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Radio Receiver)


    1. Connect each connector.

    2. A01DQZF

      Insert the radio and display receiver assembly and attach the 7 clips on the backside of the radio and display receiver assembly.

      Note

      When inserting the receiver, do not press the knobs on it.

    3. Install the radio and display receiver assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      12 N*m  { 122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }
  13. INSTALL DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY (w/ Navigation System)


    1. Connect each connector.

    2. A01DQZF

      Insert the navigation receiver assembly and attach the 7 clips on the backside of the navigation receiver assembly.

      Note

      When inserting the receiver, do not press the knobs on it.

    3. Install the navigation receiver assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      12 N*m  { 122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }
  14. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/o Navigation System)


    1. Connect each connector.

    2. Attach the 10 clips to install the center instrument cluster finish panel.

  15. INSTALL 4 WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU


    1. Install the 4 wheel drive control ECU with the bolt.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 127 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }
    2. Connect the 2 connectors.

  16. INSTALL DRIVING SUPPORT SWITCH CONTROL ECU


    1. Install the driving support switch control ECU with the bolt.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 127 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }
    2. Connect the connector.

  17. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY

    1. Connect each connector.

    2. Attach the 5 clips and claw to install the glove compartment door.

    3. Install the 2 bolts <C> and 2 screws <A> or <B>.

  18. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL ORNAMENT


    1. Attach the 5 clips to install the instrument panel ornament.

  19. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH


    1. Connect the connector.

    2. Attach the 5 clips, claw and 3 guides to install the instrument side panel.

  20. INSTALL COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the 2 connectors.

    2. Install the combination meter assembly with the 4 screws.

  21. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the 4 claws, 2 clips and 2 guides to install the instrument cluster finish panel.

  22. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. A01DTNY

      Connect the connector.

      Note

      When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    4. Install the airbag assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }
  23. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect each connector and each cable.

    2. w/o Knee Airbag:


      1. Attach the 7 clips to install the lower instrument panel finish panel.

    3. w/ Knee Airbag:


      1. Attach the 14 clips to install the lower instrument panel finish panel.

    4. Install the 2 bolts <C>.

    5. Attach the 2 claws to close the cover.

  24. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect each connector.

    2. Attach the 4 clips to install the instrument panel finish panel.

  25. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE GARNISH (for RHD)


    1. Connect each connector.

    2. Attach the 4 clips to install the instrument panel finish plate garnish.

  26. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ORNAMENT (for LHD)


    1. Attach the 3 clips to install the instrument cluster finish panel ornament.

  27. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH


    1. Attach the 5 clips, claw and 3 guides to install the instrument side panel.

  28. INSTALL FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the clip and claw to install the front No. 3 speaker.

    2. Connect the connector.

  29. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH


    1. Attach the 3 guides to install the front pillar garnish.

  30. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  31. INSTALL NO. 1 ASSIST GRIP

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the other No. 1 assist grip.


    1. Attach the 2 claws to install the No. 1 assist grip.

    2. Install the 2 bolts.

  32. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 ASSIST GRIP PLUG LH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the other front No. 1 assist grip plug.


    1. Attach the 2 claws to install the front No. 1 assist grip plug.

  34. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

    1. Align the paint mark on the front door opening trim weatherstrip with the mark position on the vehicle and install the front door opening trim weatherstrip as shown in the illustration.

    1. Attach the clip and claw to install the cowl side trim board.

    2. Install the clip.

  45. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    • Reset the AUTO TILT AWAY function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter Click here.

    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  46. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
