MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for 1GR-FE) REMOVAL


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note


    • After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  2. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the shift knob from the shift lever.

  3. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the rear console box Click here.

    2. w/ Refrigerated Cool Box:

      Remove the rear console box Click here.

  4. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER BOOT ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the 4 screws, 2 clips and shift lever boot.

  5. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the shift lever cap boot from the manual transmission.

      Cover the shift lever cap with a cloth.

    3. While pressing down on the shift lever cap, turn it counterclockwise to remove the shift lever.

    4. Pull out the shift lever to remove it.

  6. DRAIN MANUAL TRANSMISSION OIL


    1. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and then drain the manual transmission oil.

    2. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

      Torque:
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }

  7. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the front exhaust pipe Click here.

  8. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY

      Remove the 3 bolts and manifold stay.

  9. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY


    1. A01DO82

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 manifold stay.

  10. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR

    1. Remove the 2 bolts and propeller shaft heat insulator.

  11. REMOVE TRANSFER CASE LOWER PROTECTOR


    1. Remove the 4 bolts and transfer case lower protector.

  12. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the front propeller shaft Click here.

  13. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the propeller shaft Click here.

  14. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the starter Click here.

  15. REMOVE NO. 1 CLUTCH HOUSING COVER

    1. Remove the 4 bolts and housing cover.

  16. REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the release cylinder Click here.

  17. REMOVE CLUTCH ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the clutch accumulator Click here.

  18. SUPPORT MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH TRANSFER


    1. Support the manual transmission with a transmission jack.

  19. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACKET LH

    1. Remove the 4 bolts and front suspension member bracket LH.

  20. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACKET RH

    1. Remove the 4 bolts and front suspension member bracket RH.

  21. REMOVE NO. 3 FRAME CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Support the rear side of the transmission with a support stand.

      Remove the 4 bolts from the No. 3 frame crossmember sub-assembly.

    3. A01DO5D

      Remove the 4 nuts, 4 bolts and No. 3 frame crossmember sub-assembly.

  22. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR RH


    1. A01DSCX

      Remove the bolt and insulator.

  23. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR


    1. A01DM4O

      Remove the 4 bolts and engine mounting insulator from the manual transmission.

  24. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS


    1. A01DP6K

      Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    2. Detach the 7 clamps.

    3. Disconnect the back-up light switch connector.

    4. Remove the bolt and disconnect the wire harness.

  25. DISCONNECT TRANSFER AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION BREATHER HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Detach the breather hose clamp.

    2. Disconnect the 4 breather hoses from the bracket and clutch housing.

    3. Disconnect the 2 breather hoses from the transfer adapter.

  26. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH TRANSFER


    1. Using a transmission jack, support the transmission.

    2. Remove the support stand from the transmission.

      Remove the 9 bolts.

    4. Remove the manual transmission with transfer.

  27. REMOVE TRANSMISSION UPPER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the 2 bolts and upper cover.

  28. REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 8 bolts and 2 brackets.

    3. Remove the transfer from the transmission.
