WIPER SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Check the front wiper intermittent operation (w/ Intermittent timing adjustment).

        Component with harness connected

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal I32-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal I31-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      3. Operate the intermittent wiper relay and check the voltage between terminals I32-3 (+1) and I31-4 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    2. Check the front wiper intermittent operation (w/o Intermittent timing adjustment).

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal I32-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal I31-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      3. Operate the intermittent wiper relay and check the voltage between terminals I32-3 (+1) and I31-4 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    3. Check the front washer operation.

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal I32-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal I31-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals I32-3 (+1) and I31-4 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.
