VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C1436

DTC Code DTC Name
C1436 Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when the skid control ECU detects improper installation of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) or an abnormality in the difference between the yaw rate sensor value and the control value estimated based on the acceleration sensor, steering angle sensor and speed sensor signals.

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1436 Difference between the yaw rate sensor value and the control value estimated inside the skid control ECU is abnormal.
  • Sensor installation

  • Yaw rate and acceleration sensor (Airbag sensor assembly)

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR)

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Select the Data List using the Techstream Click here.

Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
Yaw Rate Sensor Yaw rate sensor / Min.: -128 degrees/s, Max.: 127 degrees/s

      Vehicle stopped: 0 degrees/s

      Turning right: -128 to 0 degrees/s

      Turning left: 0 to 127 degrees/s

    4. Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) output value displayed on the Techstream.

  2. CHECK STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Drive the vehicle straight ahead at 50 km/h (31 mph) or more for at least 30 seconds.

    3. Check that the steering wheel is correctly centered while driving straight ahead.

      Tech Tips

If front wheel alignment and steering are adjusted as a result of an off-center steering wheel, acquire the yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point again after the adjustments are completed.

      OK
The steering wheel is correctly centered.

  3. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

    1. Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) has been installed properly Click here.

      OK
The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
The sensor should not be installed in a tilted position.
