ECD SYSTEM (w/o DPF), Diagnostic DTC:P245C, P245D

DTC Code DTC Name
P245C EGR Cooler Bypass Control Circuit Low
P245D EGR Cooler Bypass Control Circuit High

DESCRIPTION

The vacuum switching valve (for EGR bypass valve) is controlled by the ECM, and the opening and closing of the EGR cooler bypass valve is performed according to the vacuum applied by the vacuum pump.

(to Vacuum Switching Valve (for EGR Bypass Valve))

Disconnect the vacuum switching valve (for EGR bypass valve) connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      C78-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Reconnect the vacuum switching valve (for EGR bypass valve) connector.

    NG
    OK
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (FOR EGR BYPASS VALVE) - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the vacuum switching valve (for EGR bypass valve) connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C78-2 - C93-4 (ECBV) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
C78-2 or C93-4 (ECBV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the vacuum switching valve (for EGR bypass valve) connector.

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    NG
    OK
  4. REPLACE ECM

    1. Replace the ECM Click here.

    NEXT
  5. REPLACE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (FOR EGR BYPASS VALVE)

    1. Replace the vacuum switching valve (for EGR bypass valve).

    NEXT
  6. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    1. Repair or replace the harness or connector.

      Tech Tips

If the voltage at the vacuum switching valve (for EGR bypass valve) connector is not 11 to 14 V, repair or replace the harness and connector between the vacuum switching valve (for EGR bypass valve) and EFI relay (including the EFI No. 2 fuse).

    NEXT
  7. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON for 3 seconds.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    5. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
