WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

  1. READ DATA LIST

    Tech Tips

Using the intelligent tester to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.

    Note

In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / (desired system) / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the intelligent tester.

      Rain Sensor
Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
Sen Cond Inf The conditions inside the rain sensor / OK or NG The conditions inside the rain sensor is displayed

Read the Data List with the engine switch on (IG) and front wiper switch in the AUTO position.

This item diagnoses the conditions inside the rain sensor.

If NG is displayed, replace the rain sensor because it has an internal problem.

Sens React Conde The rain sensor detection conditions / OK or NG The condition of the rain sensor is displayed

Read the Data List with the engine switch on (IG) and the front wiper switch in the AUTO position.

This item diagnoses the rain sensor detection conditions.

If NG is displayed, clean the outside of the windshield where the rain sensor is installed.

      Also confirm the following:

      - The sensor is correctly installed.

      - No air bubbles are trapped between the windshield and the sensor tape.

      - The sensor tape is properly placed between the windshield and sensor.

      - The sensing portion of the sensor (contact surface with the windshield) is clean.

If no defects are found, replace the rain sensor because it may have an internal problem.

Sen Hi Temp Inf The detection conditions of the temperature sensor in the rain sensor / OK or NG The detection conditions of the temperature sensor in the rain sensor is displayed

Read the Data List with the engine switch on (IG) and the front wiper switch in the AUTO position.

This item diagnoses the detection conditions of the temperature sensor in the rain sensor.

If NG is displayed, check if the temperature around the rain sensor is more than 90°C (194°F). If the temperature is 90°C (194°F) or less, replace the rain sensor because it may have an internal problem.

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST

    Tech Tips

Using the intelligent tester to perform Active Tests allows relays, VSVs, actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests.

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
