REAR AIRBAG SENSOR REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.


  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY LH

  4. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY RH

  5. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the 2 front hooks of the rear seat cushion assembly from the vehicle body.

      Note

      Follow the instructions below carefully as the cushion frame deforms easily.


      1. Choose a hook to detach first. Place your hands near the hook as shown in the illustration. Then lift the seat cushion to detach the hook.

      2. Repeat for the other hook.

    2. Disengage the 2 rear hooks of the seat cushion from the child restraint seat anchor bracket.

    3. Remove the rear seat cushion assembly.

  6. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY

      Using a screwdriver with the tip tapes, disengage the 2 claws to open the 2 cap of the rear seat shoulder belt guide LH.

    2. A01622LE01

      Using a screwdriver with the tip tapes, disengage the 2 claws to open the 2 caps of the rear seat shoulder belt guide RH.

    3. A0163EJ

      Remove the 4 bolts.

    4. Disengage the 3 hooks and remove the rear seatback assembly

  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE


    1. A0161QSE01

      Put protective tape around the rear door scuff plate.

    2. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 2 clips.

    3. A015YIJ

      Disengage the 5 claws and remove the the rear door scuff plate LH.

  8. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH


    1. A0163A2

      Disengage the 5 claws and remove the rear seat side garnish LH.

  9. REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. A0162O5E01

      Disconnect the connector from the rear airbag sensor.

      Note

      When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    4. Remove the bolt and disengage the pin, and remove the rear airbag sensor.

      Note

      Loosen the bolt while holding the rear airbag sensor because the rear airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
