FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check Click here.

      With the front seat side airbag assembly installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any following defects, replace the separate type front seatback pad or separate type front seatback cover with a new one:


      • Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the front seatback assembly around the front seat side airbag assembly.

  2. INSPECT FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED)

      With the front seat side airbag assembly removed from the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any following defects, replace the front seat side airbag assembly with a new one:


      • There are scratches, broken or frayed threads on the surface of the front seat side airbag assembly base fabric.

      • A front seat side airbag assembly that has been dropped.

      • A front seat side airbag assembly with a deformed installation part.

      • Cracks or other damage to the wire harness or connector.

      CAUTION:

      Be sure to follow the correct removal and installation procedures of the front seat side airbag assembly.
