DESCRIPTION

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and clock assembly.

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator indicates the operation condition of the front passenger airbag, front passenger side knee airbag and front passenger side - side airbag.

DTC B1660/43 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION


    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connector is properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly.

      OK
      The connector is properly connected.

      Tech Tips

      If the connector is not properly connected, reconnect the connector and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connector from the center airbag sensor assembly.

    5. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

      OK
      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

  3. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR


    1. Connect the connector to the clock assembly.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    4. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK
      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.

  4. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. A01606QE03

      Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor assembly.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    7. Turn the engine switch off.

    8. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B1660/43 is not output.

      Tech Tips

      Codes other than DTC B1660/43 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

  5. CHECK CONNECTOR


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connector is properly connected to the clock assembly.

      OK
      The connector is properly connected.

      Tech Tips

      If the connector is not properly connected, reconnect the connector and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connector from the clock assembly.

    5. Check that the terminal of the connector is not damaged.

      OK
      The terminal is not deformed or damaged.

  6. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (OPEN)


    1. Using SST, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.

      Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  9. CHECK CONNECTORS

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and clock assembly.

      The connectors are properly connected.

      Tech Tips

      If the connectors are not properly connected, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and clock assembly.

    5. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

      OK
      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

  10. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (OPEN)

      Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor assembly.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  14. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR


    1. A0162AOE04

      Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Connect the connector to the clock assembly.

    4. Disconnect the connector from the center airbag sensor assembly.

    5. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    6. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    7. Check the indicator according to the conditions in the table below.

  15. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. A01606QE03

      Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor assembly.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    7. Turn the engine switch off.

    8. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B1660/43 is not output.
