METER / GAUGE SYSTEM Oil Temperature Gauge Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The meter CPU uses the engine oil temperature sensor to determine the temperature of the engine oil. The resistance of the engine oil temperature sensor will vary between approximately 30 kΩ or higher with the engine oil temperature is 0°C (32°F), and 0.3 kΩ with the engine oil temperature is 155°C (311°F). Voltage measured at this point will vary as the engine temperature is changed.

The engine oil temperature gauge displays the engine oil temperature using seven bars. The meter CPU calculates the engine oil temperature based on signals from the engine oil temperature sensor via the direct line. When the engine oil temperature becomes 140°C (284°F) or higher, all the bar blinks and the warning message is displayed in the multi-information display.

Tech Tips

  • If the circuit is open, the lowest bar blinks.

  • If the circuit is short, all the bar blink and oil temperature warning light comes on.
