Tech Tips
Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the front axle hub sub-assembly with front speed sensor.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.
REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR WIRE
Disconnect the front speed sensor wire from the front speed sensor.
SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front disc brake cylinder assembly.
Note
Use a wire or an equivalent tool to hang the front disc brake cylinder assembly.
REMOVE FRONT DISC
Remove the front disc from the front axle hub.
Tech Tips
Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.
REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT SPEED SENSOR
Remove the 4 bolts, front axle hub sub-assembly and front disc brake dust cover.
REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR
Install 3 hub nuts to the hub bolts. Hold the front axle hub sub-assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.
Note
Replace the hub and bearing assembly if it is dropped or receives a strong shock.
Using SST, remove the front speed sensor from the front axle hub sub-assembly.
Note
Keep the sensor away from magnets.
Pull the front speed sensor off straight, taking care not to make contact with the speed sensor rotor.
If the speed sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the front axle hub sub-assembly.
Do not scratch the area where the speed sensor contacts the front axle hub sub-assembly.
