FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.

  • The following procedure listed is for the LH side.


  1. INSTALL FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY


    1. A01632PE01

      Install the front lower ball joint to the front lower suspension arm with the nut.

      Torque:
      162 N*m  { 1651 kgf*cm, 119 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Ensure that the thread and taper are free of oil or other foreign matter.

    2. Install a new clip to the front lower ball joint.

      Note

      Further tighten the nut up to 60° if the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned.

  2. INSTALL TIE ROD ASSEMBLY


    1. A0163ILE02

      Install the tie rod assembly to the front lower ball joint assembly with the nut.

      Torque:
      65 N*m  { 663 kgf*cm, 48 ft.*lbf }
    2. Install a new clip.

      Note

      Further tighten the nut up to 60° if the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned.

  3. INSTALL STEERING KNUCKLE WITH AXLE ASSEMBLY


    1. A015ZXD

      Install the steering knuckle with axle assembly to the front lower ball joint assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      120 N*m  { 1223 kgf*cm, 89 ft.*lbf }
  4. INSTALL FRONT DISC


    1. A01603AE01

      Align the matchmarks of the disc and axle hub, and install the front disc.

      Note

      When replacing the disc with a new one, select the installation position where the front disc has minimal runout.

  5. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY


    1. A015YW2

      Install the front disc brake cylinder assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      78 N*m  { 795 kgf*cm, 58 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not twist the brake hose when installing the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

  6. CONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR


    1. A0160QX

      Connect the front speed sensor to the front shock absorber with coil spring with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }

      Note


      • Do not twist the front speed sensor while installing it.

      • Be careful not to deform the bracket of the front shock absorber with coil spring when installing the bolts.

    2. Connect the front speed sensor connector.

  7. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
  8. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
