FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.

  • The following procedure listed is for the LH side.


  1. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN NO. 2 LOWER ARM BRACKET ASSEMBLY


    1. A015ZF7E01

      Temporarily install the No. 2 lower arm bracket assembly to the front lower suspension arm with the nut and washer.

  2. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY


    1. A01608ZE02

      Install the front lower suspension arm assembly and side rail plate with the 4 bolts and the nut.

      Torque:
      Bolt 1
      188 N*m  { 1917 kgf*cm, 138 ft.*lbf }
      Bolt 2
      86 N*m  { 877 kgf*cm, 63 ft.*lbf }
      Bolt 3
      50 N*m  { 510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf }
    2. A016318

      Temporarily tighten the bolt, washer, and nut.

      Tech Tips

      Insert the bolt from the front of the vehicle.

  3. INSTALL FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT


    1. A01632PE01

      Install the front lower ball joint to the front lower suspension arm with the nut.

      Torque:
      162 N*m  { 1651 kgf*cm, 119 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Ensure that the thread and taper are free of oil or other foreign matter.

    2. Install a new clip to the front lower ball joint.

      Note

      Further tighten the nut up to 60° if the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned.

  4. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING


    1. A0162S1E01

      Insert the bolt from the rear of the vehicle, and install the front shock absorber lower side on the front lower suspension arm.

    2. Temporarily tighten a nut while holding the bolt.

  5. INSTALL STEERING KNUCKLE WITH AXLE ASSEMBLY


    1. A015ZXD

      Install the steering knuckle with axle assembly to the front lower ball joint assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      120 N*m  { 1223 kgf*cm, 89 ft.*lbf }
  6. INSTALL FRONT DISC


    1. A01603AE01

      Align the matchmarks of the disc and axle hub, and install the front disc.

      Note

      When replacing the disc with a new one, select the installation position where the front disc has minimal runout.

  7. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY


    1. A015YW2

      Install the front disc brake cylinder assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      78 N*m  { 795 kgf*cm, 58 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not twist the brake hose when installing the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

  8. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY


    1. A0162CIE03

      Install the front stabilizer link assembly with the 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      84 N*m  { 857 kgf*cm, 62 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon wrench (6 mm) to hold the stud bolt.

  9. CONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR


    1. A0160QX

      Connect the front speed sensor to the front shock absorber with coil spring with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }

      Note


      • Do not twist the front speed sensor while installing it.

      • Be careful not to deform the bracket of the front shock absorber with coil spring when installing the bolts.

    2. Connect the front speed sensor connector.

  10. STABILIZE SUSPENSION


    1. Install the front wheel.

      Torque:
      103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
    2. Lower the vehicle and bounce it up and down several times to stabilize the front suspension. Raise the vehicle.

    3. Remove the front wheel.

    4. A015ZOJ

      Jack up the front lower suspension arm placing a wooden block in between. Apply a load to the front suspension so that the front lower suspension arm is placed in a horizontal position.

  11. FULLY TIGHTEN FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING


    1. A015ZS0E02

      Fully tighten the bolt on the lower side of the front shock absorber while holding the nut.

      Torque:
      157 N*m  { 1601 kgf*cm, 116 ft.*lbf }
  12. FULLY TIGHTEN FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY


    1. A016318

      Fully tighten the bolt on the front of the front lower suspension arm assembly.

      Torque:
      135 N*m  { 1377 kgf*cm, 100 ft.*lbf }
    2. A015YWD

      Fully tighten the installation nut of the No. 2 lower arm bracket assembly.

      Torque:
      113 N*m  { 1152 kgf*cm, 83 ft.*lbf }
  13. INSTALL NO.2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  14. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER

  15. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
  16. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
