STEERING KNUCKLE REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  2. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR WIRE

      Disconnect the front speed sensor wire from the front speed sensor.

  3. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

      Note

      Use a wire or an equivalent tool to hang the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

  4. REMOVE FRONT DISC

      Remove the front disc from the front axle hub.

      Tech Tips

      Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.

  5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 4 bolts, front axle hub sub-assembly and front disc brake dust cover.

  6. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE

      Remove the clip and loosen the nut.

    2. A0160GP

      Remove the 2 bolts and steering knuckle from the lower ball joint.

    3. A0163DLE01

      Remove the nut and install the spacer (SST spacer B) as shown in the illustration.

    4. Using SST, remove the steering knuckle from the upper suspension arm as shown in the illustration.

      CAUTION:

      Apply grease to the end and threads of the SST bolt.

      Note


      • Install SST so that A and B are parallel.

      • Be sure to place a wrench on the part indicated in the illustration.

      • Make sure that SST is securely positioned on the steering knuckle spacer.

      • Be careful not to damage the steering knuckle because it is made of aluminum and may be damaged easily.

      • Do not damage the ball joint dust cover.

      • Make sure that the SST string is securely tied to the vehicle.

      Tech Tips

      Apply protective tape to the steering knuckle.

      If the steering knuckle spacer has come off, replace the steering knuckle with a new one.
