AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

    Click here.

  2. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK


    1. Remove the oil level dipstick sub-assembly.

  3. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE

      Remove the bolt and oil level dipstick guide sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the oil level dipstick guide sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

      Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator.

  5. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH


    1. A0160GZ

      Remove the 8 nuts and exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH.

    2. A0161MSE01

      Remove the gasket.

  6. REMOVE NO. 3 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR


    1. A0162DT

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 3 exhaust manifold heat insulator.

  7. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY

      Detach the 11 claws and remove the terminal upper cover.

    2. A016129

      Disconnect the starter connector.

    3. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire harness.

    4. A015Z0H

      Remove the 2 bolts and starter assembly.

    5. A0160KW

      Remove the nut and terminal lower cover.

    6. A015YK6

      Remove the flywheel housing side cover.

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A015ZR4

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket.

  9. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the bracket.

    2. Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the oil cooler tube sub-assembly.

  10. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT


    1. Turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt.

    2. A0161X3

      While holding the crankshaft pulley nut with a wrench, remove the 6 bolts.

  11. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER


    1. A016212

      Remove the 4 nuts and rear engine mounting member.

  12. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 4 bolts and rear engine mounting insulator.

  13. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH


    1. A0161Y8

      Remove the nut and transmission control shaft lever with gear shifting rod.

  14. SEPARATE BREATHER PLUG HOSE


    1. A0160BSE01

      Separate the breather plug hose from the transmission breather assembly.

  15. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR


    1. A015YZ6

      Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

    2. Remove the nut and disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps.

    3. A015ZJC

      Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

      Tech Tips

      Detach the claw, press down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.

    4. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the wire harness clamp.

  16. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY


    1. A015ZLC

      Remove the 10 bolts.

    2. Separate and remove the automatic transmission.

  17. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY


    1. A0160MUE01

      Put matchmarks on the transmission case and torque converter clutch.

    2. Remove the torque converter clutch from the automatic transmission.

  18. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BREATHER TUBE


    1. A015ZK5

      Remove the bolt and automatic transmission breather tube.

    2. Disconnect the breather plug hose from the automatic transmission breather tube.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the automatic transmission breather tube.

  19. REMOVE TRANSMISSION BREATHER ASSEMBLY


    1. A015ZQZ

      Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.

    2. Separate the 2 clamps and the wire harness from the transmission breather assembly.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts and the transmission breather assembly.
