B2238 Rear Left Center Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The No. 2 ultrasonic sensor (rear left center sensor) is installed on the rear bumper.

The clearance warning ECU detects obstacles based on signals received from the rear left center sensor. If the rear left center sensor's circuit has an open, short or other malfunction, it will not function normally.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT NO. 2 ULTRASONIC SENSOR


    1. A015ZYBE05

      Remove the No. 2 ultrasonic sensor.

    2. Disconnect the No. 2 ultrasonic sensor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S3-2 (S) - S3-1 (E) Always 600 to 1200 kΩ

      Note

      Set the tester to the 100 kΩ range before performing the measurement.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CLEARANCE WARNING ECU - NO. 2 ULTRASONIC SENSOR)


    1. A0163KRE04

      Disconnect the clearance warning ECU connector.

    2. A016328E04

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q37-3 (S8) - S3-2 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q37-16 (E8) - S3-1 (E) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q37-3 (S8) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
