CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT FUNCTION OF CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the intelligent tester ON.

    3. Start the engine and warm it up.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the VVT-iE Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT-iE Linear (Bank 2).

    5. Monitor the output angle of the VVT (VVT-iE Aim Angle (Bank 1) and VVT Change Angle (Bank 1) or VVT-iE Aim Angle (Bank 2) and VVT-iE Change Angle (Bank 2)) displayed on the intelligent tester.

    6. Perform the Active Test operation with the engine speed at 1500 rpm.

      Specified Condition
      Active Test Movement Order Difference between "MD VVT Aim Angle" and "VVT Change Angle"
      0 deg → 10 deg → 20 deg → 40 deg → 10 deg → 0 deg → 10 deg → END Within 5 DegFR

      If the result is not as specified, inspect the camshaft timing control motor assembly and camshaft timing gear assembly.
