NAVIGATION SYSTEM (for DVD) Illumination Circuit

DESCRIPTION

Power is supplied to the display and navigation module display and steering pad switch assembly illumination when the light control switch is in the tail or head position.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK ILLUMINATION


    1. Check if the illumination for the display and navigation module display, steering pad switch assembly, glove box or others (hazard switch, etc.) comes on when the light control switch is turned to the head or tail position.

      Illumination comes on for all components except steering pad switch assembly. A
      Illumination comes on for all components except display and navigation module display. B
      Illumination comes on for all components except display and navigation module display and steering pad switch assembly. C
      No illumination comes on (display and navigation module display, radio receiver assembly, hazard switch, glove box, etc.). D

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the J24 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J24-12 (IL+2) - Body ground Light control switch in tail or head 11 to 14 V

  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the k1 steering pad switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      k1-8 (EAU) - J24-4 (EAU) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      k1-5 (IL+2) - J24-12 (IL+2) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right

      Note

      The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Refer to the pages shown in the brackets.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY)


    1. Disconnect the J122 display and navigation module display connector.

    2. Disconnect the J24 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J122-23 (SWG) - J24-4 (EAU) Always Below 1 Ω
      J122-23 (SWG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  5. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the k1 steering pad switch assembly connector.

    2. Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal IL+2 and a negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal EAU of the steering pad switch assembly connector.

    3. Check if the illumination for the steering pad switch assembly comes on.

    1. Disconnect the J122 display and navigation module display connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      J122-12 (ILL+) - Body ground Light control switch in tail or head 11 to 14 V

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR


    1. Disconnect the J122 display and navigation module display connector.

    2. Disconnect the J35 combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J122-11 (ILL-) - J35-9 (ILL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      J122-11 (ILL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
