NAVIGATION SYSTEM Illumination Circuit

DESCRIPTION

Power is supplied to the multi-display and steering pad switch assembly illumination when the light control switch is in the TAIL or HEAD position.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK ILLUMINATION


    1. Check if the illumination for the multi-display, steering pad switch assembly, cigarette lighter, or others (seat heater switch, hazard switch, etc.) comes on when the light control switch is turned to the HEAD or TAIL position.

      Result
      Condition Proceed to
      Illumination comes on for all components except steering pad switch. A
      Illumination comes on for all components except multi-display. B
      No illumination comes on (radio receiver, hazard switch, cigarette lighter, etc.) C
      Illumination comes on only for cigarette lighter and steering pad switch. D

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - SPIRAL CABLE)


    1. A0160WJE24

      Disconnect the spiral cable connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      J24-12 (IL+2) - Body ground Light control switch TAIL or HEAD 11 to 14 V

  3. CHECK STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the steering pad switch assembly connector.

    2. Connect a positive (+) lead to terminal IL+2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal EAU of the steering pad switch assembly connector.

    3. Check if the illumination for the steering pad switch assembly comes on.

      OK
      Illumination for the steering pad switch assembly comes on.

  4. CHECK SPIRAL CABLE


    1. A0160HPE95

      Disconnect the steering pad switch assembly and spiral cable connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      k1-8 (EAU) - J24-4 (EAU) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      k1-5 (IL+2) - J24-12 (IL+2) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right

      Note

      The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may deploy the airbag. Be sure to read the page shown in the bracket Click here.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - RADIO RECEIVER)


    1. A0163HIE01

      Disconnect the radio receiver and spiral cable connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J63-6 (SWG) - J24-4 (EAU) Always Below 1 Ω
      J63-6 (SWG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - MULTI-DISPLAY)


    1. A0161DPE01

      Disconnect the multi-display connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      J50-12 (ILL+) - Body ground Light control switch TAIL or HEAD 11 to 14 V

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - COMBINATION METER)

      Disconnect the multi-display and combination meter connectors.

    2. A01629PE01

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J50-11 (ILL-) - J35-9 (ILL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-11 (ILL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
