DESCRIPTION

This circuit sends an operation signal from the steering pad switch to the radio receiver.

If there is an open in the circuit, the audio system cannot be operated using the steering pad switch.

If there is a short in the circuit, the same condition as to when a switch is continuously depressed occurs.

Therefore, the radio receiver cannot be operated using the steering pad switch, and also the radio receiver itself cannot function.

    INSPECT RADIO RECEIVER

    1. A017DVJE14

      Disconnect the radio receiver connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E2-7 (SW1) - E2-6 (SWG) No switch is pushed Approx. 100 kΩ
      E2-7 (SW1) - E2-6 (SWG) SEEK+ switch: push 0 to 2.5 Ω
      E2-7 (SW1) - E2-6 (SWG) SEEK- switch: push Approx. 0.3 kΩ
      E2-7 (SW1) - E2-6 (SWG) VOL+ switch: push Approx. 1 kΩ
      E2-7 (SW1) - E2-6 (SWG) VOL- switch: push Approx. 3.1 kΩ
      E2-8 (SW2) - E2-6 (SWG) No switch is pushed Approx. 100 kΩ
      E2-8 (SW2) - E2-6 (SWG) MODE switch: push 0 to 2.5 Ω

    INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the steering pad switch assembly connector.

    2. A017DK0E03

Measure the resistance according to the values in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z2-10 (AU1) - z2-8 (EAU) No switch is pushed Approx. 100 kΩ
      z2-10 (AU1) - z2-8 (EAU) SEEK+ switch: push 0 to 2.5 Ω
      z2-10 (AU1) - z2-8 (EAU) SEEK- switch: push Approx. 0.3 kΩ
      z2-10 (AU1) - z2-8 (EAU) VOL+ switch: push Approx. 1 kΩ
      z2-10 (AU1) - z2-8 (EAU) VOL- switch: push Approx. 3.1 kΩ
      z2-9 (AU2) - z2-8 (EAU) No switch is pushed Approx. 100 kΩ
      z2-9 (AU2) - z2-8 (EAU) MODE switch: push 0 to 2.5 Ω

    INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE

    1. A017CXDE90

Disconnect the steering pad switch and spiral cable connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
Tester Connection Spiral Cable Position Specified Condition
      z2-8 (EAU) - D53-4 (EAU) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      z2-10 (AU1) - D53-6 (AU1) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      z2-9 (AU2) - D53-5 (AU2) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      Note:

The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the page shown in the brackets.
