DESCRIPTION

The engine hood courtesy switch is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns off when the engine hood is opened and turns on when the engine hood is closed.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester main switch on.

    4. Select the item below in the Data List and read the display on the tester.

      Entry&Start:
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Hood Courtesy Switch Engine hood courtesy switch signal / ON or OFF

      ON: Engine hood is CLOSED

      OFF: Engine hood is OPEN

      OK
      The indicator on the intelligent tester switches between ON and OFF in accordance with the engine hood courtesy switch status.

  2. INSPECT ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH


    1. for LHD

      A017DUPE01

      1. Disconnect the A8 courtesy switch connector.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        1 - 2 LOCK position Below 1 Ω
        UNLOCK position 10 kΩ or higher

    2. for RHD

      A017BI8E01

      1. Disconnect the A8 courtesy switch connector.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        1 - 2 LOCK position Below 1 Ω
        UNLOCK position 10 kΩ or higher

      Disconnect the D35 ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D35-24 (HSW) - A8-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D35-24 (HSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
