THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM (w/ Smart Entry and Start System) Engine Hood Courtesy Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The engine hood courtesy switch is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns off when the engine hood is opened and turns on when the engine hood is closed.

   READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER

   
   

   1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

   2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

   3. Turn the intelligent tester main switch on.

   4. Select the item below in the Data List and read the display on the tester.

   INSPECT ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH

      for LHD

      
      

      1. Disconnect the A8 courtesy switch connector.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard resistance
         Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 LOCK position Below 1 Ω UNLOCK position 10 kΩ or higher

   2. 

      for RHD

      
      

      1. Disconnect the A8 courtesy switch connector.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard resistance
         Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 1 - 2 LOCK position Below 1 Ω UNLOCK position 10 kΩ or higher

      Disconnect the D35 ECU connector.

   2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition D35-24 (HSW) - A8-1 Always Below 1 Ω D35-24 (HSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
