DESCRIPTION

The seat position airbag sensor circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and the seat position airbag sensor.

DTC B1653/35 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the seat position airbag sensor circuit.

  • The center airbag sensor assembly receives a line short circuit signal, an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the seat position airbag sensor circuit for 2 seconds.

PROCEDURE


  1. Click here

    CHECK CONNECTORS


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly, front seat inner belt assembly (Driver side) and the seat position airbag sensor.

      OK
      The connectors are properly connected.
      Tip:

      If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly, front seat inner belt assembly and the seat position airbag sensor.

    5. Check that the terminals of connectors are not damaged.

      OK
      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

    CHECK WIRE HARNESS (OPEN)


    1. for LHD:

      Connect the connectors to the front seat inner belt assembly (Driver side) and floor wire No. 2.

    2. for RHD:

      Connect the connectors to the front seat inner belt assembly (Driver side) and floor wire.

    3. Using SST, connect terminals 13 (DSP+) and 14 (DSP-) of connector B.

      Note:

      Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

    CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SHORT)

      Disconnect SST from connector B.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SHORT TO B+)

      Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.

    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

    CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SHORT TO GROUND)


    1. A017DT9E01

      Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      2 - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    CHECK SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR


    1. A017B54E02

      Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor assembly and the seat position airbag sensor.

    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.

    3. Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Click here).

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    6. Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    7. Check for DTCs (Click here).

      OK
      DTC B1653/35 is not output.
      Tip:

      Codes other than DTC B1653/35 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.


  7. Click here

    REPLACE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Replace the seat position airbag sensor (Click here).

      Tip:

      Perform inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible.

    CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. A017B54E02

      Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    3. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Click here).

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.

    5. Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Check for DTCs (Click here).

      OK
      DTC B1653/35 is not output.
      Tip:

      Codes other than DTC B1653/35 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    CHECK WIRE HARNESS (OPEN)


    1. for LHD:

      Disconnect the floor wire No. 2 connector from the front seat inner belt assembly (Driver side).

      Tip:

      SST has already been inserted into connector B.

    2. for RHD:

      Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front seat inner belt assembly (Driver side).

      Tip:

      SST has already been inserted into connector B.

    3. Using SST, connect terminals 14 (DSP+) and 13 (DSP-) of connector B.

      Note:

      Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      for LHD
