B1243 GSW Terminal Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

If the collision door lock release function does not operate normally, or an open or short in the GSW input circuit of the main body ECU is detected, DTC B1243 will be output.

Tech Tips

If DTC B1243 is output, the speed-sensitive automatic door lock function, shift-linked automatic door unlock function, and collision door lock release function will be prohibited.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT


    1. Delete the DTC Click here.

    2. Recheck for DTC Click here.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - MAIN BODY ECU)


    1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

      Note

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

    2. Disconnect the L73 sensor connector.

    3. Disconnect the DA ECU connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L73-18 (GSW) - DA-53 (GSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      DA-53 (GSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (GSW VOLTAGE)


    1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

      Note

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

    2. A01GIS5E01

      Reconnect the L73 sensor connector.

    3. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.

    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L73-18 (GSW) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 4.5 to 5.5 V

  4. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR


    1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

      Note

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

    2. Replace the center airbag sensor Click here.
