INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

First perform the communication function inspections in HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING to confirm that there are no CAN communication malfunctions before troubleshooting this symptom.

PROCEDURE


  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (HEADLIGHT HIGH)


    1. Using the GTS, perform the Active Test Click here.

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range
      Head Light High High beam headlight illumination operation OFF - ON
      OK
      Headlight high condition is switched by Active Test.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH)


    1. Using the GTS, read the Data List Click here.

      Dimmer Hi Switch Headlight dimmer switch signal (Hi position)/ON or OFF

      ON: Headlight dimmer switch high position

  3. CHECK WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH


    1. Temporarily replace the windshield wiper switch with a new or normally functioning one Click here.

    2. Check the high beam headlight operation.

      OK
      High beam headlight operation is normal.

  4. CHECK MULTIPLEX NETWORK FRONT LIGHT ECU


    1. Temporarily replace the multiplex network front light ECU with a new or normally functioning one.

    2. Check the high beam headlight operation.

      OK
      High beam headlight operation is normal.

  5. INSPECT HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the headlight dimmer switch Click here.

    2. Inspect the headlight dimmer switch Click here.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX NETWORK FRONT LIGHT ECU - HEADLIGHT)

    1. Disconnect the B14 multiplex network front light ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the B1*1 or B11*2 headlight connector.


      • *1: for LH

      • *2: for RH

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      for LH
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B14-6 (HLHL) - B1-2 (HI) Always Below 1 Ω
      B1-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B14-6 (HLHL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      for RH
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B14-5 (HLHR) - B11-2 (HI) Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B14-5 (HLHR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  7. CHECK HEADLIGHT


    1. Temporarily replace the headlight with a new or normally functioning one Click here.
