STEERING GEAR (for AWD with VGRS) INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • The procedures listed below are for the LHD.

  • Other than areas where instructions are provided, use the same procedures for the RHD and LHD.


  1. INSTALL POWER STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the power steering link to the front frame with the 2 bolts, 2 washers and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      150 N*m  { 1530 kgf*cm, 111 ft.*lbf }

    2. for LHD:

      Connect the 5 connectors and attach the 2 clips, 3 clamps.

      Connect the connector A as shown in the illustration.

    3. for RHD:

      Connect the 5 connectors and attach the 2 clips, 3 clamps.

  2. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BAR BUSH


    1. A01GLKGE01

      Install the 2 front No. 1 stabilizer bar bushes outside of the bush stoppers on the front stabilizer bar as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Make sure to face the front No. 1 stabilizer bar bush's seam to the lower rear of the vehicle.

  3. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER BAR

    1. Temporarily install the front stabilizer bar and front No. 1 stabilizer bracket LH and RH with the 4 bolts in the direction shown in the illustration.

  4. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH

    1. Install the front No. 1 stabilizer bracket LH with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      115 N*m  { 1173 kgf*cm, 85 ft.*lbf }

    2. Install the wire harness bracket with the bolt.

      Torque:
      22 N*m  { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH


    1. A01GNIE

      Install the front No. 1 stabilizer bracket RH with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      115 N*m  { 1173 kgf*cm, 85 ft.*lbf }

  6. INSTALL NO. 2 FRONT STABILIZER BRACKET RH


    1. Install the bracket and bolt.

      Torque:
      22 N*m  { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }

    2. Connect the 2 clamps.

  7. CONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH

      Connect the tie rod to the steering knuckle with the nut.

      Torque:
      60 N*m  { 612 kgf*cm, 44 ft.*lbf }

    2. Install new clips.

      Note

      If it is necessary to align the holes for the clips after installing the nuts, the nuts can be tightened up to 60° more.

  8. CONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY RH

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  9. CONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the clamp to the steering column hole cover sub-assembly.

      Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering column.

    3. Install the bolt.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }

      Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and power steering link.

    5. Install the bolt.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }

  10. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    1. Install the front suspension member bracket with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      59 N*m  { 603 kgf*cm, 44 ft.*lbf }

  11. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Install the front suspension member bracket with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      59 N*m  { 603 kgf*cm, 44 ft.*lbf }

  12. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER PROTECTOR LOWER


    1. Install the front suspension member protector lower with the 8 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

  13. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER


    1. A01GNYRE01

      Install the No. 2 engine under cover with the 8 bolts.

      Torque:
      for bolt A
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }
      for bolt B
      27 N*m  { 275 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf }

  14. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER


    1. Install the No. 1 engine under cover with the 13 screws and 7 clips.

  15. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS

    Torque:
    140 N*m  { 1428 kgf*cm, 103 ft.*lbf }

  16. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  17. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  18. CHECK SUSPENSION CONTROL SYSTEM

  19. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT

  23. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
