POWER TILT AND POWER TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:B2611

DTC Code DTC Name
B2611 Telescopic Position Sensor or Telescopic Motor Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The telescopic motor is operated by the power source voltage supplied from the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU and slides the steering column forward and backward. The telescopic position sensor (hall IC) in the telescopic motor detects the sliding position in the forward and backward directions of the steering column and outputs a signal to the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU based on that sliding amount.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

The wire harness between the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU and telescopic motor is provided with the steering column assembly.

PROCEDURE

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (TELESCO SHORT/LONG)

    1. A01GN8ZE01

Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the intelligent tester on.

    3. Select "Tilt & Telescopic".

    4. Select "Telesco Operation", and perform the Active Test using the intelligent tester.

    5. Check that the steering column contracts (extends) when the Active Test is carried out.

      OK
      The steering column contracts (extends).

    OK
    NG
  2. CHECK TELESCOPIC MOTOR

    1. A01GIVYE01

Disconnect connector A from the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU.

    2. Connect the positive (+) battery terminal to terminal A-2 (TEM+) and the negative (-) battery terminal to terminal A-6 (TEM-) of the telescopic motor connector. Then confirm that the steering column contracts.

      OK
      The steering column contracts.
    3. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal to terminal A-2 (TEM+) and the positive (+) battery terminal to terminal A-6 (TEM-) of the telescopic motor connector. Then confirm that the steering column extends.

      OK
      The steering column extends.

    NG
    OK
  3. CHECK MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU (VCE TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

    1. A01GKYGE03

Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A-3 (VCE) - A-5 (E1) Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 16 V

    NG
    OK
  4. CHECK TELESCOPIC POSITION SENSOR

    1. A01GKYGE04

Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A-4 (TES) - A-5 (E1) Telescopic steering contracted or extended 8 to 16 V (Pulse HI)
      Below 1 V (Pulse LOW)

    NG
    OK
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECU - TELESCOPIC POSITION SENSOR)

    1. A01GIVYE02

Disconnect connector A from the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
A-3 (VCE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG
    OK
  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECU - BODY GROUND)

    1. A01GIBCE02

Disconnect the L34 connector from the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L34-11 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG
    OK
