DESCRIPTION

The tension sensor is built into the parking brake with bracket actuator assembly. It detects the tension value of the parking brake cable and outputs the value to the electric parking brake ECU.

All of following conditions are met:


  1. Electric parking brake ECU is ON (engine switch is on (IG), or 15 sec. after engine switch is off and electric parking brake switch lock control is operating)

  2. Tension sensor output value is abnormal; difference between output values of 2 tension sensors ; or tension sensor power supply voltage is abnormal

  3. Problem occurs for approx. 1 sec.


  • Parking brake with bracket actuator assembly

  • Wire harness or connector

  • Electric parking brake ECU

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • If the electric parking brake ECU or parking brake with bracket actuator assembly is replaced, perform the "Reset Memory" and "ACQUIRE TENSION SENSOR ZERO POINT" procedures Click here.

  • Before disconnecting connectors or fuses, turn the engine switch off and wait 20 seconds or more.

  • This DTC may be output if a manual release cable is used. There is no malfunction. Perform the "Reset Memory" and "ACQUIRE TENSION SENSOR ZERO POINT" procedures Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CLEAR DTC


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and the tester ON.

    4. Clear the DTC Click here.

  2. CHECK DTC


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and the tester ON.

    4. Check for DTC Click here.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECU - ACTUATOR)


    1. Disconnect the S48 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the S32 actuator connector.

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

    1. Disconnect the S32 actuator connector.

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  6. CHECK ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ECU (TSEN, TSN2, TGND)


    1. Connect the S48 ECU connector.

    2. Connect the S32 actuator connector.

      Measure the voltage between the terminals below.

      (B) S48-8 (TSEN) - S48-14 (TGND) Engine switch on (IG)

      Tech Tips

      Take a note of the measurements.

    4. Turn the engine switch off.

    5. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    6. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and the tester ON.

    7. Enter the following menus:

      Select: Chassis / Electric Parking Brake / Data List /

    8. Check the values by referring to the table below.

      This procedure is performed to compare the difference between the actual voltage and the voltage recognized by the ECU.

    1. Turn the engine switch off.
