DESCRIPTION

The parking brake cable tightening/loosening operation is performed by the parking brake actuator's motor.

Both of following conditions are met:


  1. Electric parking brake ECU is ON (engine switch is on (IG), or 15 sec. after engine switch is off and electric parking brake switch lock control is operating)

  2. Power supply voltage and +B voltage are normal, but motor circuit is malfunctioning for approx. 1 sec.


  • Parking brake with bracket actuator assembly

  • Wire harness or connector

  • Electric parking brake ECU

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • If the electric parking brake ECU or parking brake with bracket actuator assembly is replaced, perform the "Reset Memory" and "ACQUIRE TENSION SENSOR ZERO POINT" procedures Click here.

  • Before disconnecting connectors or fuses, turn the engine switch off and wait 20 seconds or more.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECU - ACTUATOR)


    1. Disconnect the S46 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the S32 actuator connector.

    3. A01GK0EE06

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S46-1 (M-) - S32-7 (M-) Always Below 1 Ω
      S46-1 (M-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S46-2 (M+) - S32-8 (M+) Always Below 1 Ω
      S46-2 (M+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  2. CHECK PARKING BRAKE WITH BRACKET ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (MOTOR)


    1. Disconnect the S32 actuator connector.

    2. A01GIWJE09

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      7 (M-) - 8 (M+) Always Below 4 Ω
      7 (M-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
