ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C1440/98

DTC Code DTC Name
C1440/98 Steering Angle Sensor Unusual Bank Angle Detected

DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU receives signals from the yaw rate and acceleration sensor via the CAN communication system.

The yaw rate sensor has a built-in acceleration sensor and detects the vehicle condition.

If there is trouble in the bus lines between the yaw rate and acceleration sensor and the CAN communication system, DTCs U0123/62 (malfunction in CAN communication with the yaw rate sensor) and U0124/95 (malfunction in CAN communication with the acceleration sensor) are output.

DTC Code Information Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

  • When replacing the skid control ECU, perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration Click here.

  • Before proceeding with the inspection, explain to the customer that the vehicle driving record shows that the vehicle was driven on a bank at an angle of 30°, and confirm if this condition occurred.

Tech Tips

When DTC U0123/62, U0124/95 and/or U126/63 is output together with DTC C1440/98, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by DTC U0123/62, U0124/95 and/or U0126/63 first Click here.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK FOR DTC

    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    2. Turn the engine switch off.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and check that no CAN communication system DTCs are output Click here.

    4. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 30 km/h (19 mph) or more, turn the steering wheel, and decelerate (depress the brake pedal) the vehicle and check that no yaw rate and acceleration sensor DTCs are output Click here.
