DIAGNOSIS
If the skid control ECU detects a malfunction, the ABS warning, brake warning / red (malfunction), brake warning / yellow (minor malfunction) and slip indicator lights will come on in order to warn the driver. Also, when the brake hold switch is turned on, the brake hold operated indicator light blinks. It also warns the driver with the indication on the multi-information display.
Tech Tips
The DTCs are simultaneously stored in the memory. The DTCs can be read by connecting SST between terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3 and observing the blinking pattern of the ABS warning light, slip indicator light, brake hold standby indicator light and brake warning light / yellow (minor malfunction), or indication on the multi-information display, or by connecting the intelligent tester.
This system has a Test Mode sensor signal check function. The Test Mode DTC can be read by connecting the intelligent tester and observing the blinking pattern of the ABS warning light and brake warning light / yellow (minor malfunction) or by reading the multi-information display.
WARNING LIGHT AND INDICATOR LIGHT CHECK
Release the parking brake.
CAUTION:
When releasing the parking brake, set chocks to hold the vehicle for safety.
When the engine switch is turned on (IG), check that the VSC OFF indicator light comes on for approximately 3 seconds, and ABS warning, brake warning / red (malfunction), brake warning / yellow (minor malfunction), slip indicator, brake hold standby indicator and brake hold operated indicator lights remain on until the engine starts.
If the result is not as specified, proceed to troubleshooting for the light circuit below.
