REAR LOWER ARM REMOVAL

Tech Tips

  • Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side

  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR

    1. A01GI4I

Remove the 3 nuts and differential support protector.

  3. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH

    1. A01GLB8

      Remove the bolt and sensor.

      Note

      • The rear speed sensor is easily damaged. When pulling out the rear speed sensor from the rear axle hub RH, do not use excessive force to rotate and remove it.

      • Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the sensor tip.

      • Do not drop the sensor. If the sensor has been dropped, replace the sensor with a new one.

  4. REMOVE LOAD SENSING VALVE SENSOR BRACKET

    1. Remove the bolt and bracket from the lower arm.

  5. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

    A01GI07

    1. Remove the nut and disconnect the stabilizer link from stabilizer bar.

    2. A01GN59

Remove the bolt, nut and stabilizer link from the rear No. 2 suspension arm.

  6. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH (w/o Air Suspension)

    A01GKVB

    1. Remove the nut and disconnect the shock absorber from axle carrier side.

  7. DISCONNECT PNEUMATIC CYLINDER WITH REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Air Suspension)

    A01GKVB

    1. Remove the nut and disconnect the pneumatic cylinder from axle carrier side.

  8. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

    A01GL13E01

    1. Using a plastic-faced hammer or equivalent, strike the part labeled A from the rear of the vehicle to maintain the clearance at the slide pin area.

      Note

Be careful not to damage the arm.

    2. A01GJ1J

Remove the nut, washer, bolt and No. 2 suspension arm from the axle carrier.

    3. A01GKAM

Remove the nut, No. 2 suspension toe adjust plate, rear suspension attachment and No. 2 suspension arm from the suspension member.

  9. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Remove the nut on the rear axle carrier side.

    2. Install 2 spacers (SST spacer B) onto the rear No. 1 suspension arm so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm (0.04 in.) between the arm and spacers.

      Note

      • Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer B) as the axle carrier spacer may shift.

      • As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not 1 mm (0.04 in.) or less.

    3. Using SST, disconnect the rear No. 1 suspension arm from the axle carrier.

      Note

      • Apply molybdenum grease to the bolt threads and end of the SST bolt.

      • Do not damage the dust cover.

      • As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and crow are parallel.

      • Make sure to tie the string of to the vehicle to prevent SST from dropping.

    4. A01GK94E01

Remove the bolt, nut and No. 1 suspension arm from the suspension member.
