Tech Tips
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart Click here.
TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH
Insert the bolt as shown in the illustration. Then temporarily install the front No. 1 suspension upper arm assembly LH to the No. 1 arm attachment plate inner LH with the nut.
TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH
Insert the bolt as shown in the illustration. Then temporarily install the front No. 2 suspension upper arm assembly LH to the No. 2 arm attachment plate inner LH with the nut.
INSTALL NO. 1 ARM ATTACHMENT PLATE INNER LH
Install the No. 1 arm attachment plate inner LH with the 3 bolts and spacers.
INSTALL NO. 2 ARM ATTACHMENT PLATE INNER LH
Install the No. 2 arm attachment plate inner LH with the 2 bolts and spacer.
INSTALL STEERING KNUCKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
Install the steering knuckle to the front No. 1 suspension upper arm LH and front No. 2 suspension upper arm LH with the nuts.
Install new clips.
Note
If it is necessary to align the holes for the clips after installing the nuts, the nuts can be tightened up to 60° more.
INSTALL FRONT PNEUMATIC CYLINDER LH O-RING (w/ Air Suspension)
Tech Tips
It is unnecessary to perform the following procedures if the pneumatic cylinder with front shock absorber has been replaced with a new one.
Lightly coat 2 new O-rings with MP grease.
Install the 2 new O-rings and a new plate to a straight tube or equivalent, as shown in the illustration.
Insert the tube end with the 2 O-rings and plate into the pneumatic cylinder with front shock absorber LH. Then, lightly push in the O-rings and plate with a thick piece of paper.
While holding the O-rings and plate in place with the paper, slowly pull out the tube.
Install a new tube connector.
Note
Push in the tube connector until a "click" sound is heard.
INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH (w/o Air Suspension)
Install the front shock absorber on the vehicle by installing the 3 nuts on the suspension support side.
Tighten the lock nut.
INSTALL PNEUMATIC CYLINDER WITH FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Air Suspension)
Install the pneumatic cylinder with front shock absorber assembly LH on the vehicle by installing the 3 nuts on the suspension support side.
INSTALL ABSORBER CONTROL ACTUATOR (w/ Air Suspension)
Check that the control rod of the pneumatic cylinder with front shock absorber assembly LH is in the position shown in the illustration.
Note
If the control rod is not in the position shown in the illustration, turn the control rod to adjust the position and install the absorber control actuator.
Install the absorber control actuator to the actuator support bracket. Turn the actuator clockwise approximately 40° until a click is felt.
Note
Do not excessively turn the actuator.
INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER CAP LH (w/ Air Suspension)
Connect the connector to the shock absorber control actuator.
Install the shock absorber cap with the 3 nuts.
INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
Install the engine room side cover LH with the 5 clips.
INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Install the 4 clips and air cleaner inlet cover.
TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH
Temporarily install the front No. 2 suspension lower arm with the nut.
Tech Tips
Tighten the nut after the vehicle is stabilized.
Temporarily install the front No. 2 suspension lower arm LH to the steering knuckle with the nut.

Tighten the nut after the vehicle is stabilized.
Install the bottom side of the pneumatic cylinder with front shock absorber assembly LH to the No. 2 suspension lower arm LH. Then insert the bolt from the rear of the vehicle and temporarily install it with the nut.
Tech Tips
Tighten the nut after the vehicle is stabilized.
CONNECT NO. 8 HEIGHT CONTROL TUBE (w/ Air Suspension)
When installing a new pneumatic cylinder with front shock absorber assembly LH:
Remove the attachment.
Connect the No. 4 height control tube to the cylinder.
Connect the No. 1 tube connector.
INSTALL AIR CONNECTOR CLIP HOLDER (w/ Air Suspension)
Install the air connector clip holder to the No. 1 tube connector.
INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
Install the front stabilizer link with the 2 nuts.
Tech Tips
If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon (6 mm) wrench to hold the stud.
CONNECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
Install the bracket of the front height control sensor LH to the front No. 2 suspension lower arm LH with the bolt.
CONNECT FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH
Connect the No. 1 suspension lower arm to the steering knuckle with the nut.
Install a new clip.
Note
If it is necessary to align the holes for the clip after installing the nut, the nut can be tightened up to 60° more.
CONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH
Connect the tie rod LH to the steering knuckle with the nut.
Install a new clip.
INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH
Install the front disc brake dust cover LH with the 4 bolts.
INSTALL FRONT DISC

Note
The 18 inch disc has an identification mark. Make sure of the identification mark when installing the disc.

Tech Tips
The 17 inch disc has no identification mark. The disc can be installed to the LH or RH side.

Align the matchmarks, and install the front disc.
Tech Tips
When replacing the front disc with a new one, select the installation position where the front disc has the minimum runout.
CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH
Install the front disc brake caliper assembly LH to the steering knuckle with the new 2 bolts.
Note
Do not twist the flexible hose.
Make sure the screw parts are free from foreign matter and are not damaged.
Be careful not to overtighten the bolts, as the steering knuckle is made of aluminum.
Connect the flexible hose to the steering knuckle with the bolt.
CONNECT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR
Connect the speed sensor connector to the speed sensor.
Note
Do not damage the tip of the speed sensor.
Do not allow foreign matter to contact the tip or installation area of the speed sensor.
Do not twist the speed sensor wire.
Install the speed sensor wire to the front No. 1 suspension lower arm with the 2 bolts.
CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER
Install the cowl top ventilator louver for 1UR-FSE Click here.
Install the cowl top ventilator louver for 1UR-FE Click here.
PERFORM INITIALIZATION
Perform the initialization Click here.
STABILIZE SUSPENSION (w/o Air Suspension)
Install the front tires.
Lower the vehicle and bounce it up and down several times to stabilize the front suspension.
Remove the front tires.
Jack up the front suspension lower arm with a wooden block between the jack and front suspension lower arm. Apply a load to the front suspension so that the front suspension lower arm is placed in a horizontal position.
STABILIZE SUSPENSION (w/ Air Suspension)
Install the front wheels.
Lower the vehicle and start the engine. Then fill the pneumatic cylinder with front shock absorber assembly LH with air.
Tech Tips
If the vehicle height is not restored within 2 minutes, stop the engine and then start the engine again.
Bounce the vehicle up and down several times to stabilize the front suspension.
Remove the front wheels.
Note
Do not turn the power switch ON (IG).
Jack up the front suspension lower arm with a wooden block between the jack and front suspension lower arm. Apply a load to the front suspension so that the front suspension lower arm is horizontal.
TIGHTEN FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH
Tighten the installation nut of the front No. 1 suspension upper arm assembly LH.
TIGHTEN FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION UPPER ARM ASSEMBLY LH
Tighten the installation nut of the front No. 2 suspension upper arm assembly LH.
TIGHTEN FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH
Tighten the installation nut of the front No. 2 suspension lower arm assembly LH.
Tighten the installation nut of the steering knuckle.
Note
If it is necessary to align the holes for the clips after installing the nuts, the nuts can be tightened up to 60° more.
Install a new clip.
Tighten the installation bolt of the shock absorber cylinder.

Note
If the height control sensor has been replaced, be sure to adjust the vehicle height.
