SFI SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:U0319

DTC Code DTC Name
U0319 Software Incompatible with Steering Effort Control Module or Internal Control Module EEPROM Error

DESCRIPTION

The sport package information sent by the steering control ECU via CAN communication is stored in the EEPROM of the ECM. If the sport package information stored in the EEPROM is abnormal or CAN communication with the steering control ECU stops, the ECM stores a DTC.

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
U0319

One of the following conditions is met for 3 seconds or more with the engine switch on (IG) (1 trip detection logic):

  1. There is a problem with the communication between the ECM and steering control ECU when the ECM is storing information from the steering control ECU.

  2. There is an ECM internal error.

  3. The engine switch is turned off when the ECM is storing the sport package information.*1

  • CAN communication system

  • ECM

  • Steering control ECU

*1: The sport package information is stored in the ECM the first time the engine switch is turned on (IG) after the ECM is replaced. This takes approximately 3 seconds to complete.

Tech Tips

DTC U0319 is stored when the engine switch is turned off while the ECM is storing the sport package information.

If the vehicle is driven with DTC U0319 stored, the ECM and TCM operate as if the vehicle did not have the sport package. If the ECM failed to store the sport package information or when the information needs to be stored again, perform "Shift Control Synchronization" with the intelligent tester.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC U0319)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / DTC.

    4. Read the DTCs.

      Result Proceed to
      DTC U0319 is output A
DTC U0319 and other DTCs are output B

      Tech Tips

If any DTCs other than U0319 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
