SFI SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P2610

DTC Code DTC Name
P2610 ECM / PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance

DESCRIPTION

The soak timer measures the engine off soak time, which is the time elapsed after the engine switch has been turned off. The ECM uses the engine off soak time to monitor some systems for malfunction detection.

If necessary, the soak timer may activate the ECM to perform certain malfunction checks that can only be performed after the engine stopped. The soak timer is built into the ECM.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

  • DTC P2610 is set if an internal ECM problem is detected. Diagnostic procedures are not required. ECM replacement is necessary.

  • Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was moving or stationary, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.
