REAR DOOR REASSEMBLY

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. INSTALL REAR DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY

    A01373L

    1. Apply MP grease to the sliding areas of the rear door check assembly.

    2. Apply adhesive to the 2 bolts and screw.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

    3. Using "Torx" socket wrench T40, install the rear door check assembly onto the body panel with the screw.

      Torque:
      27 N*m  { 275 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf }

    4. Install the rear door check assembly onto the door panel with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL REAR DOOR GLASS WEATHERSTRIP FRONT

  3. INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY

    1. Using torx socket wrench T30, install the quarter window lock assembly with the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW GLASS

    A0137Y4

    1. Provisionally install the 2 nuts and quarter window glass.

    2. A01370O

      Using torx driver T20, provisionally install the screw.

    3. Tighten the 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

    4. Tighten the screw.

      Torque:
      2.3 N*m  { 23 kgf*cm, 20 in.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Power Window)

    1. Apply adhesive to the 2 screws.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

    2. Install the rear door lock actuator assembly onto the rear door lock assembly with the 2 screws.

  6. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (w/ Power Window)


    1. Connect the connector.

      Apply adhesive to the 3 screws and bolt.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

    3. Apply MP grease to the sliding and rotating components of the rear door lock assembly.

    4. Using "Torx" socket wrench T30, install the rear door lock assembly with the 3 screws.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 42 in.*lbf }

    5. Install the bolt.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 42 in.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Install the rear door lock assembly through the service hole.

      Install the clamp.

  7. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY

    1. Apply adhesive to the 3 screws.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

    2. Apply MP grease to the sliding and rotating areas of the rear door lock assembly.

    3. Using "Torx" socket wrench T30, install the 3 screws and rear door lock assembly.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 42 in.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Install the rear door lock assembly through the service hole.

      Install the clamp.

  8. INSTALL DOOR LOCK CONTROL KNOB HOLDER

    1. Install the door lock control knob holder.

  9. INSTALL REAR DOOR LOCK CONTROL KNOB

    1. Install the rear door lock control knob by turning it clockwise.

  10. INSTALL FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Connect the cable to the front door inside handle sub-assembly by turning it in the direction shown in the illustration.

    2. A0137UHE01

      Move the front door inside handle sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration. This will engage the claws and allow the installation of the front door inside handle sub-assembly.

    3. Engage claw A.

  11. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY

    1. Install the rear door outside handle assembly onto the body side from outside of the vehicle.

    2. A01392W

      Install the 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

  12. INSTALL REAR DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER NO. 2

    1. Apply butyl tape to the door.

    2. Install a new rear door service hole cover No. 2.

      Tech Tips

      Remove all wrinkles and folds when attaching the rear door service hole cover No. 2.

  13. INSTALL REAR DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER

    1. Apply butyl tape to the door.

    2. Install a new rear door service hole cover.

      Tech Tips

      Remove all wrinkles and folds after attaching the rear door service hole cover.

  14. INSTALL REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Engage the 10 clips and install the rear door trim board sub-assembly.

    2. Install the screw.

  15. INSTALL ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY

    1. Engage the 4 claws and install the 2 screws.

  16. INSTALL DOOR ASSIST GRIP COVER

    1. Engage the 2 claws and install the door assist grip cover.

  17. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Torque:
    5.4 N*m  { 55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf }
